NOTES ON A LOT OF THINGS

Hey,

Okay, I finally got covid. In 2025. I’m a late adopter.

I guess everyone else here knows exactly how much it sucks, but my aching bones of death and horror, IT SUCKS.

Anyway.
This thing, (being the thing you are reading), whatever it is, has, I am sure you have noticed, become a lot more erratic and infrequent. There are many reasons for this, but the big ones are that my life changed, I’m neurodivergent, and that all means I’m exhausted.

I also keep wondering what I want Make and Do to be, but that’s a false premise: I want it to be writing, largely about art, (I have other things I want to experiment with) and that is, by its nature something that has to change and be different and adapt and experiment.

I do know I actually love doing it though, and I can’t and won’t stop, so if you want to come along, it will continue to be erratic, but it will continue to exist: and I want the ideas and the takes to come first, not a schedule. If that’s not something you want to pay for – fair enough, but do know that you are supporting me in a direct way to do what I do, and that I thank you NO END for it. I am looking at different ways of payment, including one for random one offs that might work better for people. Things are actually tight out there.
There’s so much I want to get stuck into, and so much I have had to abandon – you should see the half-finished folder of shame. It’s a NIGHTMARE. All these great shows that slipped through my fingers, like a beautiful show by Eloise Kirk or the UNBELIEVABLY GOOD Eagle Tarn by Peter Maarsaveen – I mean that thing KICKED ARSE, because Peter is basically a mad alchemist who we are SO lucky to have here; there’s no one who does anything like what  he does; using his own life and memory as a developing element for beautiful haunted ghost-photos, mixed with plants and untouched water.

Anyway yeah, Sorry, but also, I need to tease that all out a bit.

This experiment in art writing is just that; it’s here for ideas and trying to think about art – and that needs time. I do not want to bang it out to meet a deadline, I’ve discovered, at least for some stuff. I like some ideas to marinate.
